Ive been suspected. Preston thought to himself grimly.
He wasnt all too panicked. Pranking was second nature to him.
But lying was first nature. it comes to him naturally.

Obviously he would slip away into the crowd and try to escape.
That would be cowardly and thats not a trait of a Gryffindor.
Plus, it makes it apparent that he was behind all of this.

He took another sip of his drink. The liquid seared down his troat
leaving a tingling after-effect. Preston leaned onto a column he
had stood near. Running his hand through his hair, he grinned at
his oncommers. Show time.

"Adelina. Whats with the threatning sneer? Its not all that attractive."
He spoke smoothly raising an eyebrow at the sight of her wand in hand.
his was not too far from his reach either.

Adelina looked over to the corner towards where Royce had nodded.

"Stupid idiot will pay for this" she muttered, under her breath.

Adelina began to cross the dance floor towards him, wand in hand.

Royce walked briskly after her, trying not to make a scene. He knew that Adelina had a temper, but would she really do this, HERE? At the Fools Ball? He watched as the Gryffindor, who he remembered now to be, Preston, whom he had met earlier that year in the hallway, lean back on a column and try to look sly.

Wasn't he the one who called Adelina an old bat?

Uh oh.

This was going to get messy.

Preston leaned onto a column he was standing near. He ran a hand through his hair and grinned as she approached.
"Adelina. Whats with the threatning sneer? Its not all that attractive." He spoke smoothly as if he had no idea what had just happened.

"Confringo" she muttered, the glass in his hand shattered into pieces, cutting him slightly.
She glared at him as if to say "cut the crap".
"Do you have a death wish Preston?" she snarled.
Why did Preston always have to ruin things?
WHY?
Her night had been pretty good until he had turned up.
Adelina was glad that he had been lurking at the side of the room, it meant that most minor activity would avoid the the attention of teachers.

Floating armchairs of doom. - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Floating armchairs of doom.   Floating armchairs of doom. - Page 3 EmptyTue Apr 07, 2009 7:59 am

Caleb was weaving his way through the crowd, wanting to see what was going on. Commotion had tumbled from the main ballroom like water tumbles from a waterfall - except, this wasn't pretty.
He knew what had happened, of course - exploding strawberries. He knew only one person who would try to pull that off (and succeed, of course). Preston was always getting himself into situations like this. Lucky for him that Caleb always tried to bail him out.
Laughter spilled from his lips when he saw the poor victims of Preston's tricks. It was Adelina and her date.
Adelina.
Sigh.
This would not end well.

Caleb decided that Preston was going to need his help again, and he felt it his moral duty as a friend to help out. He found Preston - which wasn't hard, considering the grin on his friend's face - and cursed himself and the offender under his breath.

'Damnit'. Adelina had gotten there before Caleb, and had just smashed a glass in Preston's hand.
Bystanders ran, so as not to be caught by the flying glass shards.

"Now Adelina, please... try to control yourself."

Preston couldnt help but break his pokerface expression. he winced
the tiniest bit at her light threat. He found himself gripping nothing
but air. His glass cup had shatter into a million pieces.

"I was still drinking that." He noted glumly to himself. staring at the
pool of firewhiskey evaporating from the hallway floor. the elves
mustve cleaned it up with some charm. very useful. all that
was left wer the shards.

Just then, Caleb clammerd through the crowd. Gee, my savior
has come.
Preston thought werily, a bit annoyed at his friends
presence. Always the peace maker.

"Still got the temper." he smirked at Adelina. His eye bore her down.
Im not admitting anything, they seemed to project.
"What bring you over here?" Just then he noticed Royce, or whatever
his name was, in Adelinas shadow. He made a joke about it.

"I dont know if you hadnt noticed, but you've got a little..." Preston
mentioned innocently. He pointed at Royce's arm where the strawberry
had exploded.

"I dont know if you hadnt noticed, but you've got a little..." Preston
mentioned.

He pointed at Royce's arm where the strawberry had exploded.

Royce raised his eyebrows, trying to look surprised.

"You don't say," he said, as he walked closer to them. "well look at that," Royce wiped some of the strawberry gunk off of his arm again and stepped closer.

"Bummer," he continued, "It seems as though you have a bit too, just-"

Royce reached for Preston's face and wiped the once imaginary smudge on Preston's cheek bone, leaving a dark red mark as he pulled his hand back.

"there. Oh, that's terrible, mate."

Royce chuckled a bit to himself as he looked at the new smudge he had given to Preston's left cheek.

Sighing, Caleb rolled his eyes at Preston's 'seemingly innocent' remark to Royce.
Did he ever know when to quit?
'Maybe I'll just let Adelina tear him a new one. It'd be fun to watch.'
Harmless pranking now and again was okay, something Caleb enjoyed.
But he couldn't help but wonder if Preston had gone too far by pissing Adelina off.
Royce had retaliated by smudging Preston's cheek.
Subtle.
Probably a good way to counteract Preston.
...Probably.

Adelina glared at Caleb, she couldn't believe he was trying to cover for him.
"I dont know if you hadnt noticed, but you've got a little..." Preston
mentioned innocently. He pointed at Royce's arm where the strawberry
had exploded.
That was it. The last of Adelina's patience snapped.
"Everte Statum" Adelina growled, the spell was supposed to have thrown Preston against the wall.
It didn't however.
Adelina looked at him slightly confused, he had shielded before she had even said a word.
Why?

PostSubject: Re: Floating armchairs of doom.   Floating armchairs of doom. - Page 3 EmptyTue Apr 07, 2009 8:44 am

Preston stood up straight to reach his actual height. Preston and Royce
were about the same height. they looked at each other eyes to eye.
Royce had smeared a streak of strawberries across his face with
some arrogance. Oh hell no. Preston could only keep his cool for
so long.

His hand went into his extendable charm bag and pulled out one giant
fat strawberry and aimed to smashed it on Royce's chest. He quickly
took his wand out and put up a berrier charm around himself and Caleb.
"Protego." He murmured as the strawberry began to glow its noticeably
hot color. With a smirk, he watched the fruit do what it was created to so.
Explode.

Just as it had exploded, he felt a disruption against his shield. Prestons
eyes immediatley sought out Adelina. She had a look of vengence etched
on her face. Now the party begins.

[occ; uhmm.. no god-moding. x) cant say whether(sp?) preston got hit with
the charm and thrown ... because everyone gets a chance to react to an action.

Adelina watched as Preston produced a huge strawberry and aimed it at Royce's chest.
Before she could mutter 'Protego' it exploded.
The juice splattered all over her.
Her dress was ruined.
He face was covered in red splodges.
Even her hair was covered.
She glared furiously at Preston.
He couldn't hide under a shielding charm for very long.
And as soon as it was lifted she would curse him into oblivion.

The juice from the strawberry splatter not only all over him, but Adelina as well. The red juice dripped off of her dress, hair and left red blotches on her face.

Royce looked at Preston who had placed him and Caleb behind a barrier, so that no charms could be casted onto them.

Royce thought quickly for a second.

Nothing can hurt them, but what about the barrier?

"Deletrius." Royce said, pulling his wand out of his pocket and aiming it at the barrier.

It quickly burst and disappeared, leaving Preston and Caleb vulnerable.

Adelina smirked as the barrier vanished.
Aiming stepped closer to Preston and aimed her wand so it was an inch from his neck.
What was stopping her cursing the life out of him?
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't give you a one-way ticket to the Hospital Wing?" she snapped.

Preston reacted instantly when Royce deleted his shield by
Clutching his wand. Adelina was faster. Already she had her wooden
stick unbearably close to his neck.

Audaciously, He flicked his wand to the ground and swirls of glass
lifted up into the air, at his command.

"Caleb, you really are horrible at backing me up."
He jested to his friend, who hadnt really been involved in
much of the action, a bit nervously.

"Your move Adelina." he waited hesitantly for her to strike.
"Whenever your ready." he answered her question then licked his
lips. Gosh its been to long since ive fooled around with her.

[occ; wow. sorry for such a short posts. I really wanna Rp a scene of
Adelina and Prestons history. How she used to like him and how they
got this way. it would be fun. x)]

Adelina glanced at the glass for a second, then at Caleb.
Surely he wouldn't get involved now?
It was pretty obvious that if Adelina did attack Preston she too would end up in the hospital wing.
Was she prepared to get injured for the sake of injuring Preston?
Royce was stood behind her.
Would he attack Preston if she did?
Then would Caleb attack Royce for attacking Preston for attacking Adelina?
Everything was getting complicated.
She waited for a moment to think things through.
Maybe there was a way of her not getting injured.
Maybe she could somehow dodge the glass.

( ooc: I have an idea. What if they both end up in the hospital wing and end up arguing about the past and what happened between them?)

"Any time now." Preston spoke cooly has he evened out his breathing.
His wand wielding hand was ready at any moment. Either way we
both get hurt. It was a bit funny to him. the memories. Preston
eagerly awaited Adelina's decision.

Adelina glared furiously at Preston.
Was he enjoying this?
She backed up a bit, and lowered her wand to his chest.
"Sectumsempra" She shouted.
She straightened up quickly, hoping the glass would do a fair amount of damage. She didn't want Pomfrey to feel sympathetic towards Preston.
The only way that was going to happen was if the glass cut her as deeply as sectumsempra.
If they didn't, the plan was to heal him slightly before the teachers got to them.
She had just been reading about a wound healing spell that healed wounds gradually.
She could heal him slightly so that his wounds were on level with hers.
She still hoped for the glass to do more damage though.
That way Royce and Caleb wouldn't see her healing him.
What a rediculous thing to do after cursing someone.

( ooc: After Preston's reaction maybe we should make a new thread in school grounds? )

Royce looked back and forth between Preston and Adelina, waiting for one of them to do something other than just stare.

He wasn't really sure what was going through their minds but both of them seemed way too calm for the situation.

"Oh yeah, Preston, that's great. You utter jackass, I've had a barrier around you this whole time. But if you're not gonna appreciate my help, fine. I hope she mutilates you." Caleb spat, glaring daggers at Preston.
He knew it was wrong to protect Preston, he could handle himself.
Well, at least Caleb hoped he could, because Adelina was turning more violent than he had ever seen her.
'Adelina, I'm on your side.' Caleb thought bitterly.
He wanted to disappear into the background, and let Preston fend for himself.
But then, who would turn down a front row seat to the most twisted argument in Hogwarts history?
Well, certainly not Caleb.
So what was the deal with Royce?
He was kinda just standing there, idle.
Adelina could need his help, and was just... idle. There was no other word.
Caleb was now quite confused, standing there, observing this.
Maybe Royce was just like him, an almost innocent bystander.
It didn't matter, either way, because Preston was done for.
And that he had to see.

Preston was just as quick as Adelina. His hand
flicked as adelina casted her spell on him. The pain was unbearable.
He let out a loud hollar he was positive all of Britain could have heard it.
Preston's tuxedo his mother had arranged for him had a slash through the middle.
Along with his cloth, his chest now reveal a gruesome gash. He could feel his shirt
grow heavy as the blood started to soak through the fabric.

From under his dark ;ashes, he could only catch a glimpse of Adelina.
Dammit. Do not pass out. He tried to command himself. The only thing
that would make him unregretfull of fainting was that if he he brought her
down with him. After a moment things went hazy then dark.

[occ; REVISED! I was rushing before. sorry.]

PostSubject: Re: Floating armchairs of doom.   Floating armchairs of doom. - Page 3 EmptyThu Apr 09, 2009 11:50 pm

Adelina watched briefly as Preston holwed, she lost interest as the enchanted glass slashed her own body. A cry of pain escaped her lips. There was more glass than she had thought, and it seemed to slash at her dress before burying itself deep into her skin. Her cuts were deep and dark red blood was gushing out of her. She glanced over at Preston. His tuxedo was torn and stained red. His eyes were glazed over as if trying to fight something. Was he about to faint? She began to panic, the hatred had made the curse stronger. Adelina was also on the floor now, doubled over she tried frantically to pull a shard of glass out, her head began to spin. Her injuries weren't as bad as Preston's, but the sight of her own blood and the idea that she might of seriously injured Preston seemed to make her panic. She tried to even her breathing, but it was too late for that. She felt her senses weaken and witnessed the flurry of movement around her become a blur. She was about to pass out herself. Instead of fighting the inevitable, she allowed it to take control of her. With one last effort, she pressed the tip of her wand against Preston's chest and began muttering the healing spell. She knew she had healed him slightly, whether it was enough she didn't know. The darkness overwhelmed her weak body and she lay there, weak, helpless and alone with her nightmares.

Royce watched as both Preston and Adelina writhed in pain.

Shit.

He watched Adelina fall to the floor and point her wand at Preston. What was she doing? Trying to kill him? Suddenly, a few of the cuts on Preston started to heal. It wasn't enough healing that he wouldn't need a trip to the hospital wing, but enough to stop him from loosing too much blood. But what about Adelina? She was still on the floor, dark red staining her beautiful dress.

Royce kneeled onto the floor and lifted her head. He couldn't tell if she had noticed or not, her eyes were glazed over and she looked as if she was about to pass out.

"Episkey." Royce muttered, as he pointed his wand at Adelina.

He didn't know if the spell would work on her or not. He had seen it used in the Hospital Wing for mending broken bones and a few minor scratches, but this was far from minor. He brushed Adelina's hair out of her face and looked to Caleb, who seemed to be in just as much shock as he was.

"Get the nurse." Royce said firmly.

He whispered to Adelina, letting her know it was going to be ok. Although, he was quite certain that she was too gone to hear him. He was more saying it for himself, than anyone else. Royce was more worried now than he had been in, well, than he had ever been. For once, there was no hint of a smile on his face.

Caleb had been staring in utter shock at what just happened.
He didn't expect anything less... but it was still a shock to his system.
The scene looked very gory - Preston had a deep gash in his chest, and the blood had spewed forth, disgusting the people around them.
Vultures. They'd all came for the drama, stayed for the hurt.
He wanted to lash out
But, Royce said with a voice that was set in stone:
"Get the nurse."
Caleb wasn't in the mood to argue, but he wasn't gonna leave Preston to bleed on his own.
He picked Preston up, nodded towards Royce and left, heading at full pace towards the infirmary.
Maybe Royce would follow his lead and take Adelina to the hospital wing too.

Royce watched as Caleb raced towards the doors. Was he taking Preston to the Hospital Wing? Royce looked down at Adelina, he lifted her up, cradling her in his arms and ran towards the door, following Caleb.

It was amazing how light she was, with Royce's adrenaline pumping, it felt like he wasn't carrying anything at all. He dodged the curious students and when he finally got to the doors others were cramped, peering through the exit at which Caleb had just left, holding Preston. Royce couldn't get through, and nobody seemed to notice that he was trying.

"MOVE!" Royce yelled, angry now.

How could people honestly be so oblivious? He watched as the thick crowd stepped aside, allowing him to get through. He rushed towards the hospital wing, not too far behind Caleb.

Freddie had stopped dancing with Leonora. His eyes had scanned the room for Adelina. He had heard her scream. He saw that in the corner of the hall, lurking in the shadows, a nasty scene had unfolded between Adelina and Preston. He ran forward towards it but he was too late, Royce was already by the door carrying her, presumably to the hospital wing. A few teachers were running after them. Freddie glanced at their stage, people were still stood around, pointing at the blood all over the floor. This was way more than an argument. Freddie hurried after them, eager to see if she was alright.
