Cool of the floor. Empty
PostSubject: Cool of the floor.   Cool of the floor. EmptyFri Mar 27, 2009 2:43 am

Lottie entered the Gryffindor common room with a smile on her face. She knew there had to be some cute Gryffindor boys this year, didn't there? She thought back to her previous years at Hogwarts. Surely the ones from last here were still attending, and she was always excited to see new faces as well.

She made her way over to the fireplace and sat on the floor. Unlike most people, Lottie didn't like the big comfy chairs that took up most of the common room. At least, not when the fire was going. It became too hot for her and made her makeup run, Lottie hated that.

So on the cool floor she sat, with her legs crossed and a hair brush. She began to brush the tangles out of her long brown hair. The common room was fairly empty. It was late, so she assumed most of the students were in their dormitory. Lottie hadn't been upstairs much, in fact, she didn't even know who her room mate was yet. But she wasn't in a rush to find out, she knew it wouldn't be a boy. Hogwarts hadn't changed that much. So really, it was of no interest to her.

She was about to sprawl out onto the floor and soak up the cool from the ground when she heard the common room door creek open. Lottie smiled a bit.

Oh, nice, another night owl...

Ruby creeped into the common room, she had been practicing evasive flying on the field and hadn't noticed the time. Unfortunately, odd things like that seemed to happen quite frequently to Ruby. She could be very ditzy at times.
Ruby noticed the roaring fire and the empty room. Brilliant. She sauntered over to the fire and slouched into a large comfy chair. She closed her eyes for a moment or two, enjoying the peace and quiet of the common room. When she heard a shuffling noise, her eyes shot open. Sat on the floor was another Gryffindor girl. Lottie. Ruby knew her from previous years but she looked much different now. She looked more...fake. Ruby smiled. "Hey Lottie, hows things?" she asked casually. If Lottie wanted to get all dolled up like some veela girl, then who was Ruby to judge her.

Lottie watched as Ruby made her way to the couch. She plopped down and closed her eyes, not seeming to notice Lottie on the floor near her.

Lottie turned a bit, trying to get more comfortable and Ruby's eyes shot open. Obviously, Lottie's slight shuffle had startled her. Lottie smiled at the thought.

"Hey Lottie, hows things?" Ruby said, looking at her now.

Lottie and Ruby had known eachother from their previous years, but had never been much of friends. Lottie had always been way to shy to approach anyone.

"Eh, nothing really, just relaxing. What about you? How was your break?" Lottie asked in reply.

She wasn't one for small talk, but decided to play nice. At least for now. Ruby had always been pretty kind to her. She was one of the few that never teased Lottie about her pudge before she lost her baby fat. It would have been cruel to treat Ruby badly, when she had done the opposite for Lottie.

Well she seemed the same as she did before the break. "Yeah it was good, my little sister nearly set my house on fire with one of her little tantrums though. It's so annoying that she can't control her magic yet!" she replied digging into her pocket and pulling out some bertie botts every flavour beans. She held some out in her hand and offered Lottie some. "So what about you, anything interesting happen?" she added slouching onto the floor besides Lottie. Ruby and Lottie had never been great friends, but they had got on well enough. Ruby didn't think there was anyone she disliked at Hogwarts, she even liked Icky, who most people detested. Ruby was just odd like that. She was definately a 'turn that frown upside down' kind of person.

Lottie giggled at Ruby's story but refused to have any Bertie Bott's. The last thing she needed was to add even more sugar to her diet.

"Nothing that exciting," Lottie said, stretching out a bit more, "Except-"

Lottie was cut off by a small hoot, followed by her owl Shepard. The white bird landed on the arm of a nearby couch, clutching a small package in his beak. Lottie held out her arm and Shepard hopped on. She took the package from him and reached into her pocket to give him a treat.

"This is Shepard." Lottie said, petting the owl. "But I have no idea what this is..."

She lifted up the package and gave it a shake. It rattled a bit but made no interesting noises. Lottie looked up at Ruby and then shrugged.

OOC: sorry for that lameness xD
