ooc: can I do it?

Renae watched as Alice and another student (she guessed he was her date) left the room to go outside into the crisp, night air. She would have loved to follow them, for the ballroom was getting rather stuffy, but the food was too tempting.

She grabbed a plate, and started piling it high with food she didn't normally ever eat, but looked much too tempting.

Freddie was getting bored, nothign was happening.
He saw Leonora watch other people dancing.
Here goes nothing.
He walked over to her, smiling slightly.
"Hi i'm Freddie" he greeted her, scooping her hand into his own and placing a soft kiss on it.
"Care to dance?" he asked nodding his head slightly towards the dancefloor.

Aurelius attention was stolen away from the music, to the ravenclaw girl who had been just talking to Alice. The girl was piling a plate high with all sorts of magical delicacies, and Aurelius smiled at it. He wondered...

"Hello there."

Out of the corner of her eye, Leo noticed a fairly attractive boy approach her.
'Hmm, I wonder what he wants...'
"Hi i'm Freddie" the boy said, kissing her hand gently. Nice touch. "Care to dance?"
"I'd love to." Said Leonora, before walking with him to the dance floor.

"Hello there." someone said. Renae jumped, nearly dropping her entire plate. She caught it just in time, and realized that a Slytherin boy whom she hadn't met was approaching her. She swallowed the last of her licorice wand and replied, "Oh, hello. I don't think I've met you before. I'm Renae." She smiled kindly at him. "I'd shake your hand or something, but I'd probably drop this plate."

Aurelius chuckled softly.
"Enchanté, Mademoiselle."
Being french was a great thing to woo the ladies with.
"I see..." He took the plate from her.
Two people were standing by an empty spot on the buffet table, and it took one scornful glare from Aurelius to get them to move. He set the plate down, and took her hand. He bowed, kissed her hand lightly, and drew himself up back to his normal elegant stance.
"I am Aurelius, and it is a pleasure to meet you, I should say. Excuse me, for being so forward, but would you perhaps like to dance?"

"I am Aurelius, and it is a pleasure to meet you, I should say. Excuse me, for being so forward, but would you perhaps like to dance?" he asked her.

"Sure." she replied brightly, letting him pull her onto the dance floor. She'd never been too good at ballroom dancing (she was more into tango and salsa), but started a beautiful smooth waltz with Aurelius.

"You're a very good dancer." she remarked as he spun her around. People were beggining to watch them now, as they moved around the dance floor.

Aurelius twirled around, rising gently onto the ball of his foot at the pivot of the turn.
"Ahh, it's par for the course, isn't it, M'Lady?" -- he paused, to chuckle -- "I think, If you can dance well, you can do anything well."
He flashed her a smile, turned her around again, and said:
"You're a lovely dancer too, you know. Ever trained?"

Icarus shrugged. “Who cares,” he answered, “It’s not like I plan out every single thing I do in my life. I might take a turn on the couches or even leave this place. Whatever I’ll feel like it.” He grabbed a strawberry and popped it in his mouth, licking his lips at the delicious sweet taste. He then took another one and added some whipped cream before devouring it. Whipped cream seriously made everything sweeter. For the first time, he scanned the room instead of the buffet table then, curious as to who else was also devouring the table.

What he found shocked him.

The only one even touching the food was Renae who was just grabbing food after food and placing them on her plate. Plus, even she soon stopped to go onto the dance floor with some Slytherin boy. The rest were just chatting, two people leaving the room. Well, he shouldn’t really be that surprised. Teens these days appeared to have less of an appetite as they grew. They much rather dance in the dance floor which was seriously crowded now.

As for him?

He much rather the buffet. Well, actually, he much rather fight twenty evil dragons in the middle of an active volcano.

“So, got any actual friends to ‘hang out’ with?” He asked Jake, mockingly.

I think, If you can dance well, you can do anything well." Renae pondered this for a moment before replying. "True. Plus, if you can't do anything at all, but you can dance, then everyone will be amazed at that."

"You're a lovely dancer too, you know. Ever trained?" he asked her after spinning her around again. They were gliding smoothly across the filling dancefloor, as yet another couple joined in. "Yeah, I take classes every summer." she admitted. "Compeitions and everything, too. Although I'm more into salsa and tango. Ballroom is nice, though." She smiled at him. "What about yourself? You can't honestly say that you've never taken a lesson before."

"Now that is perfect logic." He smiled.
They twisted, and more couples joined the dance floor. Room was filling quickly, but there would be some charm to fix that, Aurelius had no doubt of that whatsoever.
"Ah, so you're a latin dancer. Makes sense." He said, adding a cheeky grin. "That must be fun. But promise me, if you're going to throw a few salsa shapes, that I can join in."

"Yes, I've been taught. Believe it or not, I'm a closeted ballet dancer. My great-grandmother's fault. Dancing somewhat runs in my family."

"Ha ha, of course." she said, amusment in her voice. She couldn't see everyone, but she could tell that they were definatly the best couple on the dance floor.

"Yes, I've been taught. Believe it or not, I'm a closeted ballet dancer. My great-grandmother's fault. Dancing somewhat runs in my family."

"Oh, ballet?" she said, not sounding completley surprised. "That's always good for technique building." She watched as a few couples danced akwardly together. You could tell just by looking at them that they had no clue how to dance. She nodded her head at them, while saying, "Watching people like that really makes me want to do a really dramatic routine. Just wow them." She laughed at the idea, and what people's faces would look like if that happened.

Aurelius laughed. Renae was quite charming. He looked over, and immediately saw what she meant. Mismatched couples swayed and twirled awkwardly, with all the precision of a squid tentacle. Overall: not great. He made a mental note not to dance with one particular girl. She was lanky, and ungainly. Two left feet for sure.
"That sounds like fun. We'll tear up the floor, they'll never know what hit them!"
And at that precise moment, a swinging, up-beat rythym flowed through the hall.
The awkward got more awkward, the nervous hid themselves away.
But Aurelius span Renae right into another dance.

Aurelius spun Renae into a quick two step. The music was very fast, making most peopple shy away. He's really good, Renae thought, watching people watch them with both jealousy and awe.

As the song ended, Renae smiled to Aurelius, doing a mock bow. "Thank you for the dances, Aurelius, they were quite charming." She smiled at him, and made her way outside to get some fresh air. The room was getting rather stuffy.
