Dungeon trip.

Ah, the dungeons.

How Lucille loved it in here. Why? Well, first, it was near their common room, so if she ever got tired or forgot something, it'd be easy to go there. Second, it was usually very cold and quiet, no arseholes to disturb her. And third, she could do whatever she wanted and there would be no one to care. Serenity.

She walked slowly down the many passageways, confident that she won't get lost since she'd been here a hundred times before. She pulled out her wand and conjured a small light to help her see her way in the dark.

Tap, tap, tap.

Huh? She thought she heard someone approaching...but seriously, what would they be doing in the dungeons?

Royce wandered the corridors looking for the owlery. He knew it was around somewhere...but he just couldn't seem to remember. Then he saw a large door.
This looks promising...
He stepped inside a cool hallway with a downward stairs at the end. He wasn't sure if this was right, but he decided to try his luck.
I mean, if anything I can just turn around and go straight back from where I came.
With that he took off down the stairs, hoping to find the owlery.
The farther he went the darker it got. Royce had wandered all over the place and still hadn't seen anything that even resembled an owl. He had left his wand in his dorm, so he had nothing to use for light.
How stupid of me...
Royce was getting lost and maybe even a bit nervous. He was about to sit down on the wet floor when he saw a light in the far distance.
Royce ran towards it hoping to find it was an exit. But all he found was himself crashing into a Slytherin girl.
"UMPH!" Royce slammed her into the ground, throwing her wand out of her hand. "Bloody hell! I am so sorry!" He stammered to his feet and offered a helping hand.

"UMPH!" was all Lucille heard next before she found herself sprawled on the musty damp floor. Her back ached from the fall. She looked up, and though she could hardly see anything in the dark and with her hair strewn all over her face, she made out a very tall figure. Odd, I expected a big dog or something...

The figure was apologizing and offering her his hand. Lucille grunted and tried to stand up without help, but her leg hurt, so she grudgingly took the hand and straightened up, wincing as she did. She hoped she didn't fracture her leg...nah, it was probably just sprained.

"Not your fault," she said sarcastically as she pushed her hair back and looked around on the floor for her wand. Man, if people were going to take a dungeon tour, they should at least watch where they were going. Damn it.

"Not your fault," the Slytherin said. But Royce still felt guilty.
"Actually it is, I am terribly sorry, hun. I got lost down here and was trying to find my way out. I thought your light was an exit." He heard a wince in the dark and knew it was her, "Are you alright?"
Royce felt around for her hand or shoulder, or something that might help get the girl up. He finally bent down and lifted her off the ground, then flung her arm around his shoulder to support her weight.
"Bloody hell, I'm an idiot."

Lucille nodded when he asked if she was alright, even though she wasn't and he probably couldn't even see her. She listened to him as he apologized again and explained that he had gotten lost, mistaking her light as an exit. It would've been funny if she wasn't physically hurt.

Before she could protest, she felt him take hold of her arm and put it around his shoulder to help her get up. "Bloody hell, I'm an idiot," she heard him say. She frowned and tried to take her arm off him. "You are. Now let go, I'm fine," she lied while catching a glimpse of her wand on the floor.

"I'm getting my wand," she said firmly, but couldn't do it. I. Look. Pathetic.

Royce was a little taken aback when the girl refused to let him help. He smiled a bit in the dark, knowing she couldn't see him.
Tough cookie...
He listened to her struggle to get on her own, he let her try, not wanting to make her even more angry, but kept his arms ready to catch her in case she fell.
"Well, as awful as this sounds, would you mind helping me find my way out of here?" Royce felt around trying to help the girl find her wand.
Shoe...floor...shoe, again...wall...uck!
Royce had stuck his hand in something awful. He quickly wiped it off on what he assumed was a wall and felt around a bit more.
Floor...floor...stick...stick? No, wand!
He picked it up and felt around for the girls hand. Finding it, he grabbed a hold and placed the wand in her palm then wrapped her fingers around it to be sure it wouldn't drop.
"I found your wand." he said with a smile.

Lucille sighed in relief and took it from him carefully, then chanted: "Lumos Maxima!" A bright ray of light illuminated the room, and she could finally see whoever bumped into her. A Ravenclaw, it would seem. She thought she'd seen him before, once, in a hallway talking to Adelina and a few others.

Was he smiling? ...He was. Well, that was strange, seeing as he had just made her fall. Then again, he did try to help her. And then he had said something about finding his way out..."Fine," Lucille grumbled, "Just follow me...where are you off to, anyway?" She raised a brow at him. If he got lost, he must have been trying to go somewhere else, right?

She walked - or rather, wobbled - her way up a spiral staircase to their right, one hand holding up her wand and the other holding onto the wall for support.

Her wand lit up the room. Royce could see her face now, and was thankful for that.
Beautiful...
"Fine," the girl grumbled, "Just follow me...where are you off to, anyway?"
Royce kicked a rock that he could now see laying on the dungeon floor.
"Oh, well as funny as it sounds, I was trying to find the owlery. I'm new around here, in case you couldn't already tell. I'm Royce by the way, Royce Hades." Royce stuck out his hand, then realized how dumb it was sense the girl's hands were occupied. He then shoved it into his pocket.
"You sure you don't want any help?"

Now why did that name sound familiar? Maybe Lucille had heard it from Adelina or someone else? Hmm. "You're new? You mean - you didn't study at Hogwarts until sixth year?" she asked, assuming that he was in the same year as her. He was a lot taller than her for sure, though. "And what made you think the owlery would be down here?"

She stared at him. Honestly, owls are usually out all day hunting or flying, so why would they be locked up in the dungeons? She smiled a little, amused at him. She saw him hold his hand out, but quickly shoved it in his pocket. "I'm Lucille Perry," she introduced herself.

"You sure you don't want any help?" Lucille shook her head and mumbled, "No, thank you." They reached the top of the stairs and were now in a large, dimly-lit corridor with doors everywhere. "Just go in the fifth door to the right. You'll be in another dark corridor, and if you walk straight ahead, you'll see two staircases. Take the one on the left, it's a pretty long walk, but you'll end up in the Owlery." Did I say that too fast?

Lucille.

The name didn't ring any bells to Royce, but he liked her name. Somehow, it suited her well.
Very pretty...

"No thank you." Lucille said, when Royce offered her some help. "Just go in the fifth door to the right. You'll be in another dark corridor, and if you walk straight ahead, you'll see two staircases. Take the one on the left, it's a pretty long walk, but you'll end up in the Owlery." she added, giving him directions.

Royce rubbed the back of his neck. Would he remember that? Too bad he didn't have a pen and paper.

He really didn't want to leave Lucille down in the dungeons by herself, especially when it was dark.

"Thanks," Royce said, "but I am not going anywhere until after you tell me how to get to the hospital wing. I'm taking you there, whether you like it or not." He pointed at her leg, "You won't be able to dance at the ball with a leg like that."

My, he was a helpful guy, wasn't he? It must be in his nature...

Lucille frowned when he told her he had to take her to the Hospital Wing, whether she liked it or not. She supposed her leg did hurt - a lot - but she really didn't want to look weak...then again, he already saw her being weak. She thought about it, but then he added something else:

"You won't be able to dance at the ball with a leg like that."

"That's fine. I'm not dancing at the ball," she said flatly. It was true, mostly. She didn't have a date (which, by the way, she couldn't care less about) and she certainly wasn't planning on dancing alone. She had plans to devour the buffet, though. "And...er...okay, I'll go to the Hospital Wing." She headed for a door to their left, where she was sure a staircase would lead them up the floor where the Hospital Wing was.

"Who're you taking to the ball?" she asked, expecting him to mention some Ravenclaw. Or Adelina. Yeah, maybe her.

"That's fine. I'm not dancing at the ball," Lucille said flatly. "And...er...okay, I'll go to the Hospital Wing."

Lucille led the way towards what Royce assumed was the hospital wing, though he had no idea. He watched as Lucille hobbled in front of him,

I wish she wasn't so stubborn, I really should be carrying her....

He was about to ask her, again, if he could help when she turned her head.

"Who're you taking to the ball?" she asked, sounding a bit like she already knew the answer.

Royce's face lit up as he thought of his date.

"Adelina. She's a Slytherin too, you guys know eachother?" a large smile displayed across his face.

Lucille opened the door leading to the Hospital Wing, listening to Royce as he talked. He then mentioned Adelina as his date."Yes," she answered with a smile, "Yes, I've known her since first year. We're friends..." She nodded, imagining how Adelina would look like dancing with Royce. She was never the girly-girl type.

Her expression relaxed at Royce's bright smile. He's not so bad. She hobbled down a narrow corridor, looking back at Royce often to see if he was following. "I can't believe you managed to convince her to be your date," she said when they reached the foot of a staircase. "I expected Prest - I mean, uhh, I expected her to go...with someone else."

I almost slipped. "C'mon, the Hospital Wing's up there," she said quickly, pointing up the stairs.

Royce hadn't missed the small slip in her sentence.

Prest-...Prest-...Prest-...Prest-what?!

Royce was determined to find out. Although he wouldn't be jealous if he did ever find out who it was, she was his date now, wasn't she?

Royce followed Lucille up the staircase. He stayed close behind her, in case she was to slip.

"I'm not that bad looking, am I?" Royce chuckled, "but I didn't really give her a choice as to whether or not she was coming with me." He paused for a second, "Who did you think she would go with?"

Lucille continued up the stairs, seeing a vague light get nearer, signaling that they were almost there. Good. This leg hurts like hell now, she thought miserably and quickened her pace. She kept her back to Royce but still listened to whatever he had to say.

"I'm not that bad looking, am I?", she heard him chuckle. She gave him a brief glance before answering shortly, "No. You look good." And she was honest with that. Royce wasn't the most handsome guy in Hogwarts, but Lucille didn't doubt that Adelina found him cute. However, Lucille frowned again when he asked who she taught Adelina would've gone to the ball with.

"I don't know if I should tell you," she answered uncertainly as they got closer to the end of the stairs, "Well...I was thinking of Preston. You know him - Preston Cardova? I always thought Adelina liked him...but she never said she did, not directly." She shrugged. "No need to fuss about it, though, she agreed to go with you, right?"

Preston, Preston, Preston.

"Aw, Preston. Right, I met him earlier this week in the hallways. No fuss here. I got nothing to worry about." Royce said, honestly.

It was true too, Royce wasn't much for jealousy and he knew that he was far better than this Preston Cardova. Preston seemed utterly rude to Adelina and she didn't think that she would turn her back on Royce for him. He smiled a bit to himself, then looked up from the stairs at Lucille.

She was shuffingly quite badly now and Royce could tell her leg was in pain. He knew she would reject if he offered her help again, so instead of asking he just...did.

Royce took a few steps closer to Lucille, wrapped his arms around her hips and swung her up over his shoulder.

"Well, hope your not afraid of heights." Royce chuckled and thought about his statement. Lucille was a good 6'5" off the ground when she was over his shoulder, being as tall as he was.

"I'm helping you, whether you like it or not." he skipped a few stairs with each step so they could get to the hospital wing faster.

"Gyah!" Lucille squealed when Royce wrapped his arms around her hips. "Hey, don't - " But she was cut off shortly as he easily swung her over his shoulder. What the hell? She wanted to protest at first, but then realized that Royce was just too nice to not help her. So instead, she let him carry her as he skipped steps. "Thanks..." she whispered, wondering if it was loud enough for him to hear. She hoped it wasn't.

She tried to carry on the conversation, though it was awkward now that all she could see were the retreating stairs. "You met Preston? Was he nice?" she asked, "I've never actually talked to him before, so I wouldn't know. Adelina just says he's a prat."

She thought to herself how Preston would've reacted when he knew Royce had asked Adelina, but then again, it was hard to imagine people when you don't even know what they look like.

She tried counting the stair steps to see how long they had to get there, but Royce was going too fast. "Are...are we there yet?"

Royce heard Lucille squeal as he flung her over his shoulder. He chuckled to himself and skipped a few more steps.

"You met Preston? Was he nice?" she asked, "I've never actually talked to him before, so I wouldn't know. Adelina just says he's a prat." she paused and then said, "Are...are we there yet?"

Royce noticed the shakiness in her voice and slowed his pace. He could see the light at the top of the staircase much better now. He knew they were almost there, and was actually bummed.

Sure, he wanted to make sure that Lucille got to the hospital wing in good time, that was why he decided to carry her in the first place. But, Lucille knew Adelina, probably more than he did, and he wanted to get as much information as he could.

"Yes, we are almost there now. How is you leg?" Royce questioned.

Lucille sighed gratefully when Royce slowed down. She wasn't used to being carried so fast...actually, she wasn't used to being carried at all. "Oh, okay, that's good. And my leg is fine, I suppose," she muttered when Royce announced that they were getting nearer. "But, you still haven't answered my question."

She smirked. Royce wasn't avoiding talking about Preston, was he? If he was, Lucille could make out the fact that they didn't like each other at all, or that they had an argument or something. Maybe Preston is a prat, she thought. "Was that Preston guy nice?"

Deciding that she should at least cheer him up a bit more, she asked, "So how did you meet Adelina? I reckon she was really nice to you, unlike I was. Explains why I don't have date." She chuckled. "I am grumpy."

Royce laughed a bit with her.

"Well, he was nice to me, but he wasn't very nice to Adelina. Although, he may have just been jealous that she was talking to me? Who knows." he looked over his shoulder, "Men." then laughed a bit louder.

"Well, I saw Adelina for the first time on my second day at Hogwarts, I was wandering the halls and she asked if I was lost. Then that Preston intruded and we didn't have a chance to officially meet until later on in the hospital wing." Royce thought about that day.

"Funny, she had hurt her leg too, although I quite sure I wasn't the reason." Royce strunched his face and remembered Adelina telling him a bird had gotten in her way, although he didn't recall seeing any birds...

"You could find a date easily, if you wanted one. But I have a feeling you are a little hard to get. Plus, your quite a charming little grump." with that Royce swung her around so that she lay in front of him, cradled.

"Here we are." Royce nudged the door open with his foot and opened the door to the hospital wing.

Lucille tilted her head to see if they were there yet. Yup, just a few more steps to go.

"Well, he was nice to me, but he wasn't very nice to Adelina. Although, he may have just been jealous that she was talking to me? Who knows." He paused and looked over at her, chuckling. "Men." Lucille laughed, and not in a sarcastic way like she was so used to, but just a genuine laugh. "I think he might've been jealous, yeah...but you obviously aren't."

She listened to him as he told her about how he met Adelina in the hallways, was interrupted by Preston, then met Adelina again in the Hospital Wing. "Naw, you probably were the reason she hurt her leg," she sneered, feeling amused. "What did you do, distract her in Quidditch?"

Royce then told her that she could find a date easily if she wanted one, but that she seemed hard to get. "Plus, your quite a charming little grump." Lucille stuck her bottom lip out. "I am not charming," she muttered, vaguely remembering something about a mysterious letter she found in the Great Hall that morning. "But I am stubborn, I guess..." she trailed off, wondering if guys didn't like her because of that.

She squealed again when Royce cradled her in front of him. Awkward. "You know, if Adelina saw us like this, she wouldn't be too happy," she said, mostly so he would let her go.
